To Be On The Right Track

In  Shanghai gab es eine Menge Verkehrsknotenpunkte und immer extrem viel Stau. Diese Knotenpunkte habe ich mit Stricken in das Bild als chaotische Kreise eingebaut. Die verschiedenen Erdfarben wie Ocker, Hell-und Dunkelbraun, Zinoberrot und 2 unterschiedliche Gelbtöne runden das Bild in sich harmonisch ab; Es wird nur ab und zu durch die Knoten etwas in der Harmonie der Erdtöne gestört. 

In mir löst mein Bild eine flüchtige, aber wirkungsvolle Erinnerung an den Verkehrsfluss in Großstädten Chinas mit gelegentlichem  Stillstand aus.

In Shanghai, there were countless traffic junctions and constant heavy congestion. I incorporated these junctions into the painting using cords arranged as chaotic circles. The various earth tones such as ochre, light and dark brown, cinnabar red, and two different shades of yellow create an overall harmonious composition. Only occasionally is this harmony of earthy colors slightly disrupted by the knots.

For me, the painting evokes a fleeting yet powerful memory of the flow of traffic in China’s major cities — with its constant alternation between movement and occasional standstill.
